Pathfinders

Pathfinders are guides created by librarians to help you get started with research.
Several of mine have been selected by the state project,
http://www.thepathfinderproject.org

For direct links to the PDF versions, for more information about the program, for links to Word version of the pathfinders, or more pathfinders by other people, click on the link above.

Laura Ingalls Wilder Elementary - This pathfinder focuses on the basic resources
available to study Laura.  It works in conjunction with the more advanced resources in
Laura Ingalls Wilder Adult.

Laura Ingalls Wilder Adult - This pathfinder focuses on the more in-depth resources
available on Laura. It works in conjunction with the more basic resources listed in
Laura Ingalls Wilder Elementary.

Rose Wilder Lane - This pathfinder focuses on Laura Ingalls Wilder's daughter Rose,
a prominent author and political activist in her own right.

Kit Houses - This pathfinder will be useful in finding information about kit or catalog
houses. Sears Houses seem to have the most information available, but other
manufacturers, including Montgomery Ward’s Wardway Homes also are covered.
I'd like to thank another kit house researcher Robyn Sager who looked over the
pathfinder and made some suggestions.

One-Room Schools -  This pathfinder will be useful in finding information about one-room schools. Also known as country schools or rural schools and, on
government forms, one-teacher schools, this system was the backbone of education in this country for a long time and there are still high quality, active one-room schools.

NOTE: There are many, many books and articles about a particular person’s memories or a particular school. I’ve focused on those with more general information.

Click on the link at left for One-Room Schools for more information.
